Although it is lovely that we have been enjoying so much good weather recently, I have been surprised by the number of children who are coming to school without a water bottle and a sun hat. We always encourage the children to have enough to drink, but this is made more difficult if they do not have a water bottle in school. Please make sure that your child has both of these important items in school everyday. Sun cream should be applied before your child comes to school in the morning.
A team from St James enjoyed more sporting success last week at the Tri-Golf competition.
This is a competition for children who have not played golf before and points are awarded for team spirit and sportsmanlike conduct. After a very warm few hours at the practice driving range at Frilford Golf Course, the St James team were announced as runners up.
This means that the children will go on to represent the school at the Vale final in July.
Well done to William G, Oliver P, James L, Joshua L, Ed, Paige, Cerys, Kymora, Meri and Ciara.
A huge thank you to everyone who came to the summer fayre on Saturday. The weather was so kind to us and made for a hot but busy afternoon. I am constantly amazed by the generosity of the families involved with St James and on Saturday a fantastic £2500 was taken. All of the money raised is used to benefit the children in school and we would not be able to offer many of the exciting opportunities we do without this support.
Mrs Lynn Spindloe, who has been a lunchtime supervisor at St James for many year, has decided the time has come to hang up her pinny. I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her years of service and wish her well for the future.
Parking outside school is once again causing some issues. You may save yourself a few minutes by parking on the road but by doing so you make crossing the road extremely difficult for others.
Please be responsible and use the car park by the village shop and walk the short distance to school.
As you will be aware the policy for clothing at Forest School is long sleeves and long trousers. This policy is for the safety of the children to protect them from bites, stings and ticks. The policy will continue despite the hot weather, but waterproof trousers are not required. The Forest School Leaders always make sure that there is ample water available and children are allowed to drink when they need to.
