School Association

Parents automatically become members of the St James School Association as soon as their child joins the school.

The aim of the School Association is to provide a link between staff, Governors and parents, and to support the school by organising social and fundraising activities. A committee is elected annually from among the parents and meets regularly – Please click here for the SAC page to find out more about you can get involved.
We know the valuable contribution that day trips and residential activities can make towards pupils’ personal and social education. We aim to include live performances of music and drama as well as visits to museums, galleries and places of interest. Each year, Fire Class has a one-night residential trip in
September to help promote team work and build relationships. In the summer term, after SATs, Fire Class goes away for a longer residential trip, usually over a weekend.
The Governing Body reserves the right to make a charge for:
  • activities deemed to be optional extras taking place outside school hours, e.g. sporting activities that involve expenditure such as coaching fees, hire of village hall, etc;
  • the board and lodging element of residential activities taking place within school hours;
  • the cost of materials, ingredients or equipment for cooking, craft, design and technology (or parents may be asked to provide such ingredients).
Families in receipt of Income Support or Family Credit, or where family hardship exists, may apply in confidence to the Headteacher for the remission of any charges in part or full.
