World Book Day

Dear Parents,

On Thursday 1st March it is World Book Day, in order to celebrate reading and encourage reading for pleasure we are celebrating with range of activities.  On this special day, your child can come to school dressed as a favourite character from any book. During the day the children will take part in a range of exciting book based activities with a variety of teachers across the school. As staff we have already planned our costumes so watch this space!

Also to celebrate World Book Day we are running a competition, this year we are asking for children to decorate a potato as their favourite book characters (see below for inspiration). There will be prizes awarded for both KS1 and KS2. Please hand these into the office in the morning on Thursday 1st March, where I will be to collect them.

At the end of the day the children will each receive a book token. They can take their book token to a local bookseller and can use it to pick one of TEN (exclusive, new and completely free) books. Or, if they’d rather, they can use it to get £1 off any book or audio book costing over £2.99 at a participating bookshop. This is a fantastic opportunity to visit a book shop with your child/ children and explore some amazing books.

We look forward to seeing all your fantastic costumes, competition entries and celebrating World Book Day together.

Miss Dade
