Children’s Survey

1 July 2019

Dear Parents,

We have been invited to take part in the Children’s Worlds international survey of children’s well-being in England.

Children’s Worlds is a worldwide study of children’s lives, activities and well-being, which is being run in England by The Children’s Society in partnership with the University of York.

The current wave involves over 40 countries across five continents. The study aims to improve children’s well-being by listening to what children around the world say about their lives. Findings from the last wave of this survey, which were included in The Children’s Society’s Good Childhood Report in 2015, generated considerable media coverage and interest among professionals, decision-makers and the general public in the UK and many other countries.

This survey will require children in year 6 to complete an online questionnaire regarding their well-being. The survey will take about 20mins and will happen in school.

After the survey has been completed in school, the electronic data will be sent to the University of York where the data will be analysed. It is anticipated that the findings from the survey in England will be published during 2019 and we will ensure that you receive information about this at the time of publication.

The data will also be sent to the international research group and will be combined with data gathered from other countries. It will be included in an international data set which will be available for further analysis by researchers around the world.  Schools will be able to learn more about the longer-term outcomes of the study by visiting the project website (see below) or opting in to e-mail updates.

If you do not wish your child to be involved in this study please let Miss Dade know via Class Dojo.
