Dear Parents and carers,
From September, the Friends of St James group desperately need more help!
Sam Matthias will be taking on the role of Chair, Kate Thomas will be vice-chair and Hannah Horton will be Secretary. However, we are in need of somebody to take on the role of Treasurer so that the PTA can continue to run – could this be you? The rest of the committee will offer plenty of support and help with this role so please don’t be too put off by the title. The role mainly deals with creating floats for events, but the Treasurer also oversees our bank account and does some internet banking. As we are a registered charity, we also have to submit our finances to them once a year.
Of course we also need more parent support in other roles. It would be great to have some other committee members who are willing to turn up to meetings and help with planning and ideas. We try to keep the number of meetings held to a minimum as everybody’s time is precious and we can be flexible over whether meetings are held during daytime, straight after school or in the evenings. A lot of our planning is carried out through informal text / email / WhatsApp conversations too!
We understand that it can be difficult to make commitments to be on the committee, but if you are someone who would prefer to help in a more ad-hoc way – setting up events / running stalls at events / helping tidy away …. then why not email us and give us your contact email / phone number so that we have a bank of people to call on for help when we run events? If everyone helps a little bit through the year, then nobody ends up trying to do too much!

Lastly, we will be holding our AGM on Monday 5th October (assuming social distancing rules allow us to). We are hopeful that this may be at 7.30pm in the school hall but will confirm closer to the time once we are able to make definite plans.
