Lunch & Break Time Snacks

School menu allergen sheets – We have allergen information for each day’s menus which are available, on request, from the school office. They cover possible allergens and food intolerances.

From September 2014 all children in reception and KS1 (years 1 and 2) are entitled to free school meals.

Healthy SchoolsCooked meals and cold packed lunches are available from school each day. Vegetarian meals are provided. The school is keen to promote healthy eating, and has received a second ‘Healthy Schools’ award (June 2011).

All dinner money for the week should be paid on a Monday. If a child has paid for a meal and is subsequently absent, the money will be carried forward until the child returns. From 20th Feb 2017 the price for a school meal is £2.30 per day (£11.50 per week). Free meals are available to families on Income Support/Family Credit. The School Secretary will be happy to talk to you about your rights and how to claim.

Provision is made for children who bring their own packed lunch. This should be packed in a suitable, clearly labelled container. Hygiene-RatingThe school is trying to promote healthy packed lunches, with a good balance of foods from across the food groups. Non-fizzy drinks can be included, provided they are in an unbreakable container. Nuts and peanut butter sandwiches are not allowed, as we have children in school with severe allergies.

All meals are eaten in the dining room and the lunch hour is supervised by two lunch-time supervisors with the support of one member of staff.

Break-time snacks

snacksWe try to promote healthy eating in school and so we ask children to bring in fruit or vegetables as a snack at playtime. Please label your children’s healthy snack to help us make sure they can eat what they have brought in (a named freezer bag works well).  Crisps, sweets and biscuits are not permitted.
