Yet more sporting events last week. Children from KS2 took part in the quad kids athletics competitions and we also had two teams taking part in the local cricket competitions. Firstly, massive congratulations to everyone who competed in the athletics competitions on Wednesday. Lots of our children were surprised by how hard it was to pace themselves over 400m or 600m. Every child completed the run, regardless of how hard they were finding it. The determination that everyone showed was brilliant to see. A special mention to Naomi (year 4) and Charlotte (year 6) who were placed 2nd and 4th respectively in their age group competitions. The rain also held off for the two cricket competitions on Thursday. Again the players representing St James were outstanding in their competitive nature and sportsmanlike conduct.

As most parents know term time holidays are not authorised unless under exceptional circumstances. However, I would ask that if you are taking your child out of school, that you let us know. You can be sure that if you are going away for a long weekend, your child will be excited to tell us what a lovely time they have had upon their return! If your child is competing in a sporting event this can be marked as such on the register. If upon their return we are told that your child was not sick, your child’s absence will become unauthorised.
