Children in Key Stage 2 enjoyed an exciting morning last Friday with the second Inter merit group competition of the year.

Mr Chadwick and Mrs Wolton refereed the Tag Rugby competition and were delighted with the sporting nature that was shown throughout the morning. After some very close matches the winning merit group was Ghillie Dhu. Well done to everyone who took part and good luck to the team who are representing St James today.

As some of you may know year 2 are looking at why the Titanic sank. The following is a newspaper article written by Oliver L.

Titanic Disaster

On Tuesday 14th April at 11.40pm the iceberg scraped the starboard side of the majestic ship. Sadly 1500 people died and 706 people survived. People survived by getting into lifeboats. Many people did not want to get into the lifeboats because the ship sounded safe and life boats did not. The lifeboats were picked up by a ship called the Carpathia, because of this, people in the lifeboats were saved and taken to America.

By Wednesday morning, 2.20am, the Titanic had sunk. People also died by the temperature which was 2◦C in the water.

As it was sinking the band carried on playing until it sank.

Do you have a child who will be 4 sometime this academic year? Don’t forget you need to apply for a school place by 15th January 2020. If you would like to visit school, please contact the office to arrange a show around.

Despite a very poor turnout at the Friends of St James AGM, I am delighted that a group of parents have now come forwards to enable this group to continue to run.

To that end there are two fundraising activities planned before Christmas.

Bags to School is planned for 20 Nov

The Christmas Fayre will take place on Saturday 7th December. If you are able to help please contact Andrew Wastie

Parents of children in Inkpen Class are welcome to join their children for a ‘Stay and Play’ session on Thursday 24th October from 8.45am – 9.30am.
