Respect Perseverance Trust

2nd November 2018

Welcome back, after what I hope was a restful half term break, to another fun filled term. This is always a busy time of year and this term is no exception. We begin next week with Parent Teacher Interviews. Please do sign up on the sheets that have been outside the office at drop off and pick up time. If you do not come to school at these times please contact the office and Janine will book a slot for you with your child’s class teacher. If you are unable to make the days we have allocated please contact your class teacher via class dojo and they will arrange an alternative. This is the perfect opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress in school and how we can work together to help them. We look forward to seeing everyone over the coming weeks.

Thank you to everyone who supported the variety of ‘Fab Finish’ events that occurred at the end of last term; from a story recital to a science fayre, art exhibition and charity cake sale!
Year 6 raised an amazing £104! Keep your eyes out for more ‘Fab Finish’ events this term.

The expansion at the back of the school continues to run to plan. Over half term the new flooring was laid in the pre-school play area, the canopy was put up, the lines were painted on the MUGA and the fascia for the classrooms was fitted. The children were excited to see how much has happened whilst they have been on holiday. There are photos of the progress of the development in the entrance hall, please come in and have a look or even take a peek around the back to see for yourself! It is exciting to see the building take shape and we are looking forwards to seeing this continue. Whilst the builders are on site Health and safety is a high priority for us and the children have been involved in an assembly yesterday about staying safe around school whilst the development is still to finish. We have also had a ground breaking ceremony today to celebrate this exciting development in the history of St James.

As the weather gets colder and wetter please make sure that your child has both a pair of wellies and a coat in school. We will be outside at break and lunchtimes unless the rain in torrential

As the year 6 Woodlands Residential draws closer, there will be a meeting for parents and carers on Thursday 15th November. This will be an opportunity for us to explain more fully the itinerary for the week and also for you to ask any questions. Please join us straight after school.

Please make sure that if your child has long hair it is tied up. In this way you will help to make sure that headlice are not transmitted from child to child.
