We are moving quickly towards the Easter Holidays and life in school continues to be as busy as usual.
The building and refurb work is nearly finished – we look forward to moving into our new staff room, library and meeting room during the Easter break.
I would like to thank you all for your patience during the build and refurb and welcome you to ‘have a peek’ after the holiday. We will have an official opening during the summer, when villagers and other stake holders will be invited to come and view the ‘new look’ St James.

Year One had a sleep over in school last week to mark the end of their topic ‘Can’t you sleep little bear?’
Here are just some of the comments the children made afterwards:
We had a disco and I liked it and I slept in my bed and in the disco we had glow sticks – Rafa
I liked the sleepover because there was hot chocolate and biscuits and William and Jacob slept next to mar and it was fun for me. – Byron
We had hot chocolate and biscuits. We had a disco in the MUGA in the dark. And we went to sleep because it was 9 o’clock. – Jacob
I went to the sleep over and it was brilliant because I like breakfast because the Rice Krispies are tasty and we had a disco in the dark and we had hot chocolate. – Hollie
On the MUGA we did a disco we had two glow sticks one was thin the other was fat. After we went in we had hot chocolate and some biscuits and then we went to bed. We had three stories. – Poppy
I went to the sleepover and I had fun and we had a disco and we had hot chocolates and biscuits and they were yummy because they had chocolate in them. – Rose

Sporting events continue and over the last few weeks we have taken part in the Vale Netball Final where we were narrowly beaten in the group phase.
Two teams took part in the Boccia competition. It was a long afternoon of intense competition and whilst we didn’t qualify straight away for the next round, we have been asked to attend. This means that both teams will be representing St James on Wednesday at the County Final – Good Luck to the six children involved.
A team of children also took part in the swimming gala last week. Another afternoon of intense competition saw us finish 5th in the boys’ competition and 4th in the girls. Well done to everyone who took part, but an extra congratulation to Caleb who won the individual butterfly race.

I am delighted to be able to tell parents that wrap around care will continue after Karibuni withdraw their services at Easter.
The Club@St James will be running from 23rd April. To book your child’s place please email
We will not be offering holiday club at the moment but this is something we hope to offer during the summer holidays.

If your child is unwell and unable to attend school please phone the school office by 9.15am.
